Chaining Sentient Creatures

Wouldn't it be great if it was possible to chain up dwarves like how animals are chained (select a specific dwarf and chain him/her up)? You could chain up a noble in a cavern and feed him to the crundles.  :D

You can, pretty much. Build a lever, assign it to just one dwarf, and set it to pull - Repeat, and they will usually sit there and pull it until they're almost dead from thirst. Giving you plenty of time to lock them in a room with some crundles or whatever.

Literally chaining them may seem like more entertaining role playing to you, but from another perspective, it would be LESS satisfying role play, because it would be inconsistent with dwarven ethics against slavery of people who have committed no crimes.

Only issue with this little exploit is the dwarf isn't tied up, so he can run off. Instead of hopelessly struggling to break free as a blind cave ogre prepares to pop his melon in one fell swoop. Will still try out the lever idea though.

Naw, see, you build a small room around him while he's pulling the lever (or just lock the door). The you pull another lever that releases the cage with the cave ogre in the corner of said room.

Can we chain work animals? Because the "assign" list doesn't have those named pets.
So maybe it is not about sentience, but names?
