All I can think to say is where is the in-depth police officer roguelike!? Someone needs to birth it (ideally with tileset support in mind, bahaha)!

It would make for good gameplay if all the common stuff was put in..
*Questioning/interrogation
*Inspecting house interiors and searching vehicles
*Using non-lethal force primarily while having to choose when its justified to fight for your own life
*Crowd control 'missions' and patrol routes, ability to advance up to a captain, sheriff, detective, K-9 unit, or SWAT team member, *Interacting with local gangs/contacts and setting up stings
*Choosing whether or not to be a 'clean' cop or not
*'Intrigue' stuff like personally investigating potential crooked cops (or government officials) and coping with inter-office politics
*Choosing gear loadouts and your 'ride-along' partner..

And thats just scratching the surface :| (like forming relationships with the locals and using charisma skills to gain their trust, and the trust of communities).. All kinds of good stuff could be added! Just watch out for serial killers (and play-as-a-serial-killer mods) ;)

That sounds like it would be fun as hell to play actually.

There is a free game on steam where you can play either cops or robbers. But the cops are basically just robbers with a badge and a few more rules. Its an mmofps.

Now that I got home, APB Reloaded.

the people of ferguson would agree...

I think most devs prefer to go down the buddy cop, action movie role a la LA Cops and Battlefield: Hardline. It has a wider appeal.
