I dont have to find them funny to defend his right to be tasteless.  If you do not want to support him than dont, but plenty of people apparently do.  Im not here to discuss the validity of his humor.  Nor will I boycott him for any one joke.  Rather I find him reprehensible on the whole, so I ignore him.  But that doesnt mean I dont know about him.

I dont want people to relax.  I wish to put forth that I dont agree with you.  Nobody said you need to relax.  Well, you implied that I said that.  My opinions are being voiced, and they conflict with yours.

I dont want to derail the thread further, nor do I want to offend anybody here.  This is one of the better forums for actual expression. *as opposed to potential*

that's just a dumb way to justify supporting someone's intolerable behavior. The government isn't cracking down on him, his rights to be a jackass are already protected. You wouldn't boycott him for that because you do not care if something does not directly affect you.

It has nothing to do with opinions, incidentally, you referred to me as close-minded and fanatical... for expecting basic decency from others. Those are insults, not opinions. Rather silly ones at that.

The real point is, if it is not in your personal face every day, you don't give two shits what happens to other people. Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, etc, all non-issues for you so they aren't worth your time.

That is the epitome of white male privilege.

You can just pretend it doesn't exist at all.

You can pretend the kind of violent and negative behavior that comes from these things never happens or is unusual, and go on about your life.

I and many other people are not able to do that because we were not born with said privilege. No one is saying you are inherently evil by being a straight white cis-gendered male. But if you are going to be selfish and willfully obtuse about what you receive from society versus what other people recieve, that is your fault. You are 100% responsible for that. If you are going to be insensitive to the suffering others deal with that you never have to worry about ever, you are also responsible for that.

You dont get to tell me how I live my life; and how I feel regarding people.  You dont get to tell me what my experience is.
-that I have not gotten jumped for defending the bullied kid
-for being the only white person in an urban school
-that my brother and best childhood friend were gay
-that I live on the edge of homelessness.
-Or that I worked as a male exotic dancer catering to all types.

And you dont get to tell me how insensitive I am when I served our country or when I donate almost 40 hours a month to volunteer work; for the homeless, for the mentally and physically ill, or their ilk.

You dont get to make those assumptions and stereotype me and then get off explaining about how bad stereotypes are.  And thats why you are closed minded.

Not only did you pull the "you're not the boss of me" trope, you added in the "Some of my best friends are..." one to boot.

I don't care about those details of your life, incidentally. This is not some personal thing where I'm calling you out and you hand me a small list to prove that you are a super sensitive good guy, honest.

You made comments, I am responding to said comments. You are acting like a privileged white male, you get told you are one. None of the stuff you listed is even relevant.

-Defending a bullied kid once in awhile does nmot mean you understand what the bullied kid is experiencing
-that's nice but how is it relevant? You're giving me one situation in which you were outnumbered racially, which is sort of unimportant. I went to a mostly black school for a year myself. It was a rather awkward attempt at integration. It has no bearing on the privileges I recieve in the real world for being white. Those are still there, those are still systemic.
-I know I know, some of your best friends... Being close to gay people doesn't give you the right to insult and demean them as a whole.
-Don't talk to me about poverty. Class is another issue entirely, and I'm probably just as poor as you are. It doesn't change the privileges you receive for your skin colour, sexuality, and gender.
-Dancing for money doesn't make you knowledgeable in anything but how to dance for the best tips.
