Why can't i plant certain seeds when they're ON the stockpile? [40.13 still :P ]

So, my miners dug up a farming place AND a stockpile for the seeds. The dwarfs placed all the seeds that were on the wagon on the stockpile, no problem until i decided it was time to start the farm. The farm plots were already completed, so i demanded my farmers to go there and plant. Strangely, i can't plant cave wheat and pig tails on this season, but i can do it on other seasons. That's strange and i have already seen that. Is that a bug? I'm currently playing on 40.13

The seeds are on the stockpile!

There's an 'end of season' thing that is sometimes a bug, and sometimes not.

If plants are showing up in red in late Winter then it's a bug. It got fixed after 40.13.

If plants are showing up in red at other times of the year then it isn't a bug. It is showing that you will not be able to harvest the plants in time before the season starts and it becomes too hot/cold for them.
