Will I get a goblin siege?

Hello

So in my last fort, one of the factors that made me set it aside was the lack of siege.  I licked on c to see the civs, and there were only humans and dwarves. 

SO I started again (that 2X2 by accident embark) and pop-caped at 20 so I could get settled in first.  I made sure there were some goblins on the map.   

Today I clicked c and... no goblins!  I see humans, elves and kobolds, but no goblins(edit).  Am I right in guessing this means I won't get sieged?

you only see them on c once you have interacted with them once you are playing.

True. I didn't see any goblin civ until the 5th year. So I guess it is a diplomatic thing.

It used to be possible but extremely unlikely to get goblin merchants. Dont know about diplomats.

Check your error log as well, it might say that the army will camp forever...
Happened to me a few times, goblin dark fortress with direct line to my fort, no intervening terrian, over 100k of value, no siege...
