Hello all. I've been attempting to get into masterwork, but so far I've had issues with every embark. Out of five or so generated worlds, all of them have had no plump helmets, sewer brew...very few of the basic embark preparations shown in the (p)roblems menu. I've looked into it and people say its an occasional consequence of world generation, but its happening to me every time.

I'm using the recommended advanced world generator with all those options like Geomagic, Small Region, Medium Island, etc.

This is also happening on a fresh masterwork install. Am I meant to make due with this, or is something wrong? If so, does anyone know how I can fix it? Thank you.

when you upgrade to the newest version of MWDF do you install into the current folder or do you do a clean install, i have noticed if you install into an older folder some of the raws may corrupt, this is a common issue

It is a completely fresh install. Perhaps it has something to do with my messing around with tilesets, since some edit the raws. Didn't realize it could affect the game so profoundly. I'll see if my problem still occurs with the default masterwork tileset.

what world presets are you using?
It should not matter much, but it might.

It is ok, I'm used to that in RL so why should my game be different :p

That is normal vanilla DF behaviour, it occurs when there is no water in the first cavern. No water means no cavern plants, means that you home civ has no access to those plants, so you cant buy any.

If your embark location has water, you can dig down into the first cavern and pick them yourself.

After a fresh install with no tampering with tilesets, the rate at which embark prep items were available increased pretty heavily. I suspect I was overwriting raws without knowing it before. Much appreciated, guys.

The vanilla presets for world generation has a minimum water level for caves of 0% and a max of 100%, it means that you can get a lot of completely flooded caverns or dry ones.

MDF presets have somewhat less random things like that, and should net substantially less "no cave seed" problems.
