Still, that's actually arguably creepier than some of the evil biome stuff.

Evil biomes have plants with eyes that stare at you.
Yeah well, nice biomes have unicorns.

I've had to abandon two forts because of rampaging unicorns.  I'm considering making them tameable just so they don't murdelate my dwarves when they try to butcher the trapped ones.

Is that how you get those? Interesting... One of my only memories of successful hunting in one of my Forts (I keep forgetting to make quivers...) was Unicorns. I was flat out surprised those were out in the wild. And good eating. XD

An elven caravan appeared at the edge of the map traveling up-river to my fortress. The waters ran red with the blood of unicorn carcasses strewn about, their inert forms bristling with unicorn-bone bolts. There were so many of them, our industry couldn't keep up with the supply.

This was the same game where we obliterated all those clouds of pixies after setting the surface on fire and burning everything that didn't make it back to the fortress in time.

I suggest that feather trees are actually really freaky mutant birds.
Or, whole, live doves grow from and mingle on the ends of their branches. Toady is just waiting to implement growths developing into living, fully-functional creatures so that feather trees can erupt in clouds of angry doves whenever someone climbs them.
