Anvil

So yeah, my first metalsmith decided to drop his anvil over by the outside river when he was heading for my fortress.  Now it doesn't register me as having one.  How might I go about fixing this dilemma?  Or, am I just screwed?  If I am screwed, does anyone know why he might have dropped it and how I can avoid it in the future?

Thanks all

ah, I figured it out... had to build a trade depot and mark it for sale so someone would go get the thing... then just cancel the trade

Thanks anyway

He lost the anvil? Well... that was your entire metalsmithing operation down the drain before it started. I guess you can keep playing, but the most youll get out of your metals will come from a smelter.

Edit: Oh, you got it back, good  :)

Unless you've managed to mint enough coins for the book-keeper before you lose the anvil, you're pretty much outta luck. You'll need an economy to get the noble that allows you to request one from the dwarven caravan.
