Powered automation redux
« on: September 29, 2014, 07:51:37 am »

I see this has been discussed in the past (at least in pieces), figured I'd bring it up again - powered automation of metal production.

In a perfect world, of course, I'd like to see automated minecart loops, automated ore processor, and automated smelting.  I think that breaks down to:
- having minecarts dump onto the shops
- powered shops whose reactions run when all reagents are present
- shops that transfer items to another shop

I'd guess that last is not automatable at all (unless there's a way to auto-load minecarts and do it indirectly, wouldn't that be neat), so the next best thing would be a powered ore processor and a powered blast smelter, relying on beard power to move the items from shop to shop.

Is any of this possible?

Or, of course, one great big powered shop that takes ore in and spits bars out ;)

The Gnomes already do literally all of that, powered workshop complexes is like over half of their thing.

Only problem with the Gnomes is that actually getting the ores into a minecart or dumped onto a minecart loader is slow as hell
