Salt water

I was wondering if there is ANY way to get fresh water out of salt water I heard a bug that if you pump it out of a screw pump it becomes fresh, confirm?

My child got ripped to shreds by invading goblins, which caused my wife to go mad and was shot down by the town guard for attacking the brewer and they both rotted before my eyes....

Correct. Water emerging from a pump is fresh regardless of the state of the input water. Thus, pumps can be used to purify water.

Yeah I have a long-time fort on a saltwater map and I wouldn't have any weapon champions if it weren't for the elaborate pump system that moves water from the aquafer into several different reservoirs for my wells.

sidenote: I lost nearly all of my starting seven due to a combination of werewolves and no fresh water.
