Post-Golden Age Eras?
« on: July 08, 2007, 12:47:00 am »

I was uploading a new world for a new adventurer and i was watching the years go on and i noticed something that im sure others have noticed

0-500 years : Age of Myth
500-1000 years : Age of Legends
1000-1050 : Golden Age

Apparently the eras name changes every 500 years, so, does that mean in 1500 there will be a new era? Has anyone ever even gotten close to this era? Did toady put in this era?

It probably isn't implimented, although I wouldn't be surprised if something did happen... i guess you can memory edit your way to 1499 (yay for time travel  :p) and see what happens on new years.

Yeh, no sane man is going to actually play 450 years in DF.

It seems that there is planning for it to be implemented in the future (Bloat149), as well as the Age of Myth (Bloat148).

You forget: Most people who play this game aren't quite sane, afterwards.  I'm sure it will be or has been done.

if you had many adventurers in the same world, you could hit that many.  with some effort.

I'm sure that would be possible if you're a Fortress Mode addict.

I've seen 50 done. 100 is feasible. 200 is a long time, but still possible. But 450? Sorry, I can't see that happening :P

How is it not possible? When you start a new fortress in the same world, your start time is the same year as the end of your last fortress. It is possible to play about 40-50 10-year fortresses and end up in 1500.

This brings up a good question.
Why does technology never improve during thousands of years in these fantasy worlds?
I want to see shotgun wielding biker dwarves!
Elves with high powered rif- I'm describing shadowrun, aren't I?
