Would be nice to see faster movement on roads for wagons and caravans.

Well, merchants are only on your map about 25% of your year, and spend 98% of that time just sitting in your Trade Depot. So implementing a minor change that effects only 0.5% of your game isn't going to get a lot of people excited.

But if slightly faster road movement (and automatically-accompanying traffic designation) applied to all land creatures, then people might start to care. I would apply this speed increase to Floor tiles as well, but a speed decrease to tiles with bushes (living or dead), thick grasses / vines, sand, or "a pile of mud". As well, there should be a chance of self-injury & stun when walking on Ice tiles.
