Neptune's Pride/Neptune's Pride 2: Triton
« on: August 30, 2014, 02:28:28 pm »

Since the last thread hasn't been posted in for a little under a year, I decided to start a new one.

Basically, Neptune's Pride (Henceforth referred to as NP) and Neptune's Pride 2 (Referred to as NP2) are multiplayer 4x strategy games, where the aim of the game is to conquer half of the stars in the galaxy, while fighting or aiding 8 other players.

Regardless, this, and this explain it much better.

I played this before, forget most of the mechanics though. I remember it being fun although drawn out over weeks, maybe we can get a Bay12 game going or something?

the problem I have with most of ironhelmet's games is the massive span of time it takes for things to get done. Even if you're committed, there is a near guarantee that most of the other players will drop out after a few days. Don't get me wrong, I liked these games when I played them, but the pace is slower than farmville.

Yeah, a huge problem I now remember was half of the 8 player game going inactive, leading to a snowball effect that led to a really boring game. Reason why I thought a game with B12 people would be better since they would reliably be active and we have multiple avenues of communication.

True enough. If enough people are interested in starting a game, I'd totally be up for it.

Literally started playing this a couple of days ago, still very early days in my game but enjoying it loads. Would be up for a game with some of you guys if it gets arranged :)

I'd be up for it. I remember back when I was still around on the spinoff pony forums we ran a 6(?) player game in which everyone stayed active until it was pretty much decided.

One thing to keep in mind, though is that whoever ends up setting up the game needs to keep rerolling the galaxy until we get one which is relatively balanced. Last time I played, two people became irrelevant almost immediately because of bad starting positions.

Sounds like everyone agrees. Anyone experienced enough with hosting a game?

Do keep in mind that having a premium member make the game is pretty much required (among other things, it lets us make the game private and adds a ton of new options, most especially symmetrical galaxies).

If at least five other people PM me with their game contact info, I'll cover the cost and set up the game.
