Man had always sought to see beyond the stars, when caveman first set fire to sticks they began the journey to the endless boundaries of burning stars and fertile worlds. Germany took the first large step, sending the V2 Rocket into the stars, the first real leap into the infinite plains. America conquered the moon, but that was just a mere taste of what to come. Skip ahead over a thousand years, and you will find that the world has finally got what it so desired. They had found the secrets they need to travel to the starts, and stay there. However it was expensive, more than any one country could handle on their own, so the UN took it into their hands to build the ships, send them out and collect supplies to fund even further exploration. That prompted a pseudo world peace, pretty much every country in the world flocked to the UN to get a cut of the pie. With so many people taking and not being able to give back, the supplies and resources they were bring back wasn’t enough. Eventually the bigger, greedier countries started to succeed, and go their own way trying to get into the space game. With just some of the poorer countries that couldn’t afford to succeed left, the UN could no longer afford to keep sending shuttles and stations into space, but that didn’t stop them. They kept sending people into space until they destroyed themselves, bankrupting the UN and shutting it down. With no UN and greed going haywire the world almost instantly erupted into WWIII. The entire world changed it face on that war. Entire countries shifted, whole continents fell, islands sank into the ocean, and even the most trusted of allies became bitter enemies. While the wars still rage on, looting, plundering and stealing land allowed them to develop better technology, making space exploration cheaper, and more accessible. Some people can even get their hands on old, yet extremely expensive and ineffective, ships. Now a few strong factions like the old UN and America have risen up, but can’t afford to directly send anything to space themselves, so they have to pay people to do it for them. Space is the final frontier, and we’ve finally reached it, now you have to face it.
These are the various factions you’ll see and interact with throughout the game. Each one has their own personality, and will react to situations differently, and each one will have different rewards and consequences for working with them.
The Mexican-Canadian Collaborate: When WWIII started, America and Canada were one of the first countries to turn on eachother. Canada held its own surprisingly well, and was actually able to not only beat back America, but actually push into their lands. However, while taking one side of the country, America was able to swoop in and counter attack Canada. How it ended up was that each country now had a vertical border, and Canada now had a direct border with Mexico. Fear for it’s safety, Mexico quickly form alliances with Canada in case America decided to attack them next. They never happened, but Mexico and Canada are still strong partners.
Nazi Russia: After the beginning of WWIII, Nazi party politicians from Germany stood up in heritage of their very close conquering in the previous world war. People were scared, and in fear of the world around, gave Germany to the Nazis. Their first task was to conquer Russia, since they had “betrayed” them before. Im sure you can figure out how well that went, and how quickly the people of Germany turned their backs on the Nazis again. However, the idea of Nazism still stood in Russia. Some people had some how picked up the idea that they were right, and revolted up against the Russians. The Nazi Rebels took part of Russia, enough to be a country, and enough to go to space, and form their own Nazi Russia.
The Cuban Remnants: After the world broke out in wars, most of Cuba was “accidentally” eradicated when a carrier “accidentally” dropped a chemical weapon America was going to test over Cuba. Over 90% of the island died, and those who survived were weak, frail and sick, and the whole country is still toxic. They previous government had fallen, and a new one took place fast, pushed forward to hopefully get the infrastructure back in place to heal people. They don’t have the manpower of technology to get to space, but they can get people to go there for them, and get messaged out there.
Character Creation.Human: Undoubtedly the ‘normalest’ of what creatures we know. They have no discernible strengths nor weaknesses.
Cyborg: A split between man and robot, people with cybernetic body parts and upgrades. These people can do anything a robot can. They’re not as weak the EMPs as their fully robotic brothers, but they need to charge even more often.
Robot: Metal beings built by men to make their life easier, they run on battery power, and are made for special purposes, meaning they’ll be more proficient in one set of statistics. However they all share a common weakness, EMPs. One blast and it will all but shut them down.
Xenoman: A coined term for all the aliens discovered since they’ve been to space. They all come of different shapes, sizes and forms. However, they always seem to have one thing in common. Their brute strength, and ugly, untrustworthy looking faces. They’re also thought to have some kind of Hivemind, and that they may be able to communicate privately without anyone knowing once they met another Xeno.
Citizen: The normal citizens of the universe. People have a tendency to trust normal Joe’s more, but taxes can put a dent in their money.
Pilot: You actually know how to fly, no matter how you learned it, you did. Obviously you can fly better than anyone who haven’t been, but you find it hard to learn out of a cockpit.
Pirate: YAR! A pirates life is the one for you. Being a pilot is dirty business, so thats how you got your hand a weapon and a criminal charge.
Mercenary: The semi-legal killer, you kill people for money, giving their lives to the highest bidders. You rake up some money playing that game, but people tend to know your face to, and not the people you want.
