Forum help
« on: August 20, 2014, 09:18:03 am »

I cannot figure out the right place to post this, so I'm dropping it in here.... My question is: is there anyway to "favorite" or "bookmark" a forum topic so I can go back to it w/I searching 20 pages back and without just bookmarking it into the browser directly??  Thanks

BWhales034,

You can mark a topic to notify you when there's a new post (it'll show up in your profile/messages).  Two ways to do this:

1) When you're reading the topic, click on the "notify" button (next to "reply").

2) If you're posting a response, there is an option to "notify me of replies" (under "attachments & other options").

-Dame de la Licorne

Edit: As an additional note, whenever you see a post containing only "PTW", this means the player "posted to watch", but with option 1 it isn't really necessary.

Don't worry people, sometimes -moments occur

There is also the automatic "new replies to your posts" in the header bar, but that requires you to post in the thread first.

No forum solution to keep old threads for referece if there is no activity in those threads, have to do that in the browser.

Not quite true. If you've hit the "notify" link (next to the reply link) at the top of a thread, you can always easily refer back to it even if there's no activity. Here's how:

Click on the "Profile" link to bring up your profile.
In the Menu on the left you will see a link for Notifications. Click that.
And there you are. Every thread you've ever hit notify on, all in one convenient list, starting with the newest activity. I've got stuff in my list that hasn't seen activity since 2008.

All this "PTW" nonsense is just laziness.

Man in zero g, that is exactly what I was looking for. I've been posting from my phone and for some reason that whole profile tab was hidden. New to the forums ( playing DF since ~2008) and I've got to say so far everyone has been super helpful. Thanks guys!
