What's the difference between SDL and Legacy when downloading the game?

No, they went to Hel, where they lead a bleak existence in cold and darkness. Valhalla is reserved for valiant warriors.

For the benefit of others, the Legacy version uses the "old" input/output code (used by 0.28.181.40d and earlier), while the SDL version uses SDL for those. The SDL version is notable in that it is the only version that can be used with DFHack (on Linux and MacOS, the only versions available use SDL).

As far as I know, the only reason the Legacy version still exists on Windows is because it gives better performance for some users, and there are a few bugs in the SDL version which do not exist in Legacy (such as death in Adventurer mode not switching to real-time).

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
