Confusing access problem
« on: August 16, 2014, 10:39:43 am »

I can't see why my dwarves will place a floor in the first position (green cross) but not in the second (mauve cross 'no access').

Any ideas?

ptb_ptb,

Dwarves can't build floors diagonally, only vertically/horizontally.  Once the floor at the X has been built, then they should be able to build the floor at the second X.

You can also build floors in groups, up to 10x10 and any rectangle in between.  As long as the dwarves can access one of the floor designations, they'll build the whole thing.

If software was real world, then it'd be something equivalent of hitting a nail with a hammer and having a building collapse on the other side of town.

Don't worry people, sometimes -moments occur

Yeah, except

a) They don't need to build diagonally to build it at the mauve X
and
b) A day or two later and the mauve X is now a green X. No idea why.
