It's good to be the queen!
« on: August 08, 2014, 09:34:45 am »

I've had one tiny fortress, dedicated to churning out steel armor for adventurers. Suddenly, about 1 month after embarking my furnace operator became a queen, without any warning or message.
Whaaaaaa.....  ?

The Mountainhomes more than likely got invaded and conquered, and the old ruler died. Your fort is probably the last bastion of your civilization, so they needed a ruler and designated one.

If you have a previous save, check out who was the ruler and if the current queen was his/her daughter. Alternatively check the civilization info and list of nobles, if there are any.  Since it is possible for your dwarves to get baron and higher titles if their parents die due to old age or something (not necessarily a goblin attack) then maybe it is possible also for the highest title.

It's good to be the queen!
Now, just make sure to imprison any witches you find, and if someone offers you chocolate, eat without ever bothing to check if it's poisoned/socially acceptable to eat.

Oh, and arrows are best removed by shoving them in all the way through.

...Or am I thinking of the wrong game here?

... Yes, the hugs are for everyone.  No stabbing, though.  Just hugs.

Embarking from dead civs is a real problem now. The same thing happened to me in my 10000 year world. Enjoy your slow death by noble.
