Dwarf Fortress Music
« on: August 04, 2014, 06:25:36 pm »

If you're like me and are super fond of the Dwarf Fortress theme music, then I suggest Leszek Jankowski. I found his name after watching a bit of Street of Crocodiles, and checking who did the soundtrack afterwards. His music seems to consist mainly of guitars with the same eerie, haunting quality the Dwarf Fortress music has.

Have a listen:
Leszek Jankowski — Melodia Na Piec (Part I,II,III)

Why not share the sort of music you like to listen to while playing Dwarf Fortress? I sometimes like to listen to some dark ambient whilst playing, like Thomas Köner or Lustmord. :)

Not bad. Nice 5/6th metric. Some of the high melodies add a touch that reminds me of flamenco. A bit on the sad and slow side though, for my dwarf fort tastes.
I kinda listen to everything when playing DF, if I don't forget to turn off it's own music in time to prevent becoming entranced by it.

This is the kind of music that should play when your fortress fails.

I was thinking more along the lines of this legendary champion, all clad in dented and dinged up steel plate, his blood-drenched axe slung over his back, a notch in the handle for every enemy that saw the swing of that blade as the last sight they ever saw, a battered shield strapped over his arm... and a fluffy, pink stuffed hippo hidden discretely in his breastplate.
