I think Bob was supposed to be the neutral guy but failed when he specifically claimed the zero's are more important because there are more of them. So here is Elizabeth: (You could substitute this with something like GlyphGryph more literal description if you like, this person is just describing what is literally in front of them and nothing more than that)

Elizabeth: There are a bunch of zero's and a 1 and thats all I can say about the image.

And because people seem to see other things:

Fiona: Whoa man, its like, totally a shifting grid of swirls and it keeps changing colour. Radical.

Because I bet there are more people like Biowraith who thought it was a trick image:

Gloria: I swear there must be something more to this image. *pulls out magnifying glass* I must investigate!

For the record, I would vote Elizabeth.

From this, of course:
0000000000000000000000000
0000000000000000000000000
0000000000000000000000000
0000000000000000000000000
0000000000000000000000000
0000010000000000000000000
0000000000000000000000000
0000000000000000000000000
0000000000000000000000000
0000000000000000000000000
0000000000000000000000000
0000000000000000000000000

In any case, with the focus analogy: drawn to the 1 (keyhole) in this case, but the box is there too: find the key, open the box. So... Dan, I guess?

Oh god, I just happened to stop that on a particularly dirty spot on my screen that I hadn't noticed before and totally though you had hidden the Ĥ̢͚̲͙̬͙̝͈͈͐̒ͦ̓̏E̹͓̥̻̻͋͟ ̦̇͌ͩ͂̍̚C̝ͯͣ͒ͯͩ̀ͣ͘͞O̴̵̧͓͐̽ͣͦ̌̌M̵̻̮̟̺̓̃͌̍͌ͩ͢E̴̦̦̤̹̦̘̲̲̒ͮ̇̉ͫ̈́̌̚S̵͚̦͈̊͛̅̔ͪ̓̍̽ stuff in the middle of that block of zeroes. :o

I am not sure that the example you used in your original post is the very best example to debate general focus.
It is purely visual, and very heavly weighted because of hardwiring that evolved in animal brains, in a very early stage of evolution, that draws visual focus to contrast. The one is in contrast with it's surrounding zeros, and thus more likely to be the object of focus.
