Hello,

I noticed with the new update that there appears to be a surplus of wood in dwarf mode so I thought that the wood supply could be brought back into balance by creating more mechanics that utilize wood. The happy thought from eating a nice meal could be modified depending if the meal was eaten with proper cutlery... made of wood that wears out and eventually needs to be replaced. Additionally wheelbarrows made of wood should wear out and need to be replaced. Wooden shoes?

Metal things could wear out more (like picks) which would need to be melted down (the metal is not lost) and forged again, making wood the only resource required to offset wear.

Torches that illuminate the dark depths of the fortress and burn for a few weeks and need to be replaced. Like seriously how does everyone see down there? As an aside, in order to go down below z level 10 or something how about requiring ventilation? This would make building water wheels and windmills more important and add a new 'layer' players need to 'breach' to dig deeper.

Incidentally, it does get really really hot as you get closer to magma underground so perhaps deep-level ventilation would require a supply of ice to offset the heat. Ice could be manufactured in hot climates using water and mechanical energy. (A piston that draws a vacuum becomes cold enough to create ice.)

Can we have swinging log traps?

Anyway I'm not familiar with all the facets of this game so I'd be interested to read what you guys think

I'd be happy enough if the amount of wood dropped was just cut by some fraction and the growth split into stages of several years for larger trees.

Candles and lanterns were typically used for lighting in olden times. (Bioluminescent fungi and creature oils are also viable for dwarves.) Torches give off way to much smoke and nasty fumes.

Reading his name would trigger it. Thinking of him would trigger it. No other circumstances would trigger it- it was strictly related to the concept of Bill Clinton entering the conscious mind.

For me the solution would mean more time spent to get the wood, in the form of the need to process the wood (cutting the logs, etc) before using it.
