Author Topic: Dwarf grabbed 'clay loam' as a stone for strange mood...doesn't work.  (Read 595 times)

I just got a strange mood for my dwarf, and for his stone (draws pictures of a quarry) he grabbed clay loam. I'm not sure if that counts in-game as a stone, because it doesn't seem like he wants to start construction. He should have access to everything else he needs, I've got a caravan's worth of leather and cloth, gems, bones, and more than enough pig iron.

Any idea what's going on here?

You'd think that, if he grabs it, he'll use it too. Maybe he needs a second piece of 'clay loam'?

It's not in a stockpile, but he grabbed from what was left over from the caravan. There's other pieces of clay loam as well.

strange mood [...] cloth

If he's asking for cloth, he could want plant fiber cloth, silk cloth, or animal yarn cloth.  You can't tell which one it is, unless he grabs one, or by process of elimination ("I have pig tail cloth and cave spider silk cloth, so he must need yarn").

There are a few things that could stall a mood that come to mind.

The aforementioned types of cloth. Cut gems versus rough ones. Three different types of glass, though that shouldn't come up too often unless the dwarf has a preference for glass or if their mood skill is glassmaking.

Bones can be tricky as well. Sometimes they won't claim bones even though I have plenty of different types of them, and from various different animals. Though butchering an animal or two occasionally helps. But time may be lost if a dwarf comes and takes the bones to a stockpile before the mooder can claim them.
