strange mood not completing..sigh..
« on: July 20, 2014, 12:44:49 am »

OKay so I have a dwarf in a strange mood who went wayyyy down and took my craftdwarf workshop that my strand extractor was using. It was in a burrow. As soon as I realized he was going for it, I removed the burrow.

He wants:

metal bars
rocks
bones
tanned hides

with rock and metal bars getting a couple repeats.

He's about 4 tiles away from a massive pile of metal bars.

Now that it's out of the burrow (they were in the same burrow) he should have no issue grabbing them
rock is everywhere
way up top there are tanned hides. I have a leather pile with around 12 pieces of leather on it

bones are always an issue, but as soon as I saw he needed it, I butchered to stray puppies and a ram.

Refuse pile is open.
None of the other stock piles are in burrows (only a dining hall/hospital/dorm burrow for emergencies)

None of the stockpiles are set to give to a certain workshop or anything.

i believe dfhack isn't actually working or something so I can't use that to check right now.

I event went to all the relevant stockpiles and told them to "give" to that workshop just in case...

still..he won't move to collect items.

he's also a soldier with an adamantine sword. Probably time to wall him in. Though I'll pause it for a bit if anyone has any suggestions.

[edit] as I unpaused (After using DT to reenable all his hauling labours) a second ram was slaughtered and he started moving.. not sure if it was the bones or labours..

Probably not enough bones to start with.

Probably not enough bones to start with.
This. I've noticed with some of my strange moods that dwarves will not begin collecting items until enough items are available. However, those items are not necessarily "claimed" by the moody dwarf, so once he starts collecting, you can burrow him again to create a Planepacked.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

So yet another..
child takes over craftdwarf workshop
No burrow this time. No give/take set up for this workshop.

He wants bones again (along with many other things)
I killed a ram, a water buffalo calf, a cat, a piglet and nada. He won't budge.

He wants other mundane things:

trees tons laying around and on stockpiles
stone tons just laying around and on a stockpile
raw gems (tons) (this stockpile in a burrow, removing it doesn't help)
metal bars (tons) (some stockpiles in a burrow, some not)
leather (tons)

God this stuff is frustrating.

edit:
just remembered I added all kids to a burrow in an attempt to control them...
you know because "the insane voices in my head directed me to a workshop and demand I collect rotten bones, but even though I'm out of the workshop.. I'm not supposed to leave the dining room..."
