The first dwarven caravan arrived, and with it the liaison. Or, to be more specific, the GOBLIN liaison.
Why is a goblin in charge of the dwarven caravan?

Because while he might be smelly, crude, ugly, green, and have no table manners, he is the single greediest most conniving used wagon salesman on this side of the mountain.

Really though, his civ got conquered, and he just randomly generated his way into that position.

This sort of thing has been happening since version 0.28, so it's no surprise that it still happens today.

In fact, since Toady fixed liaisons and diplomats being fired when they leave the map (which started happening back in 0.31), you can look forward to meeting with your goblin liaison every year.

Or at least until it dies, at which point you'll get a new liaison which might possibly be a Dwarf, Goblin, Human, or even Elf!

I was just thinking they added something specific about this in the new version. Something like goblins or other creatures going to a dwarven fortress to find a job, or something similar.

Goblin name. When i get back my laptop where I have the save I can try to get some screenshots... if I manage to survive another year; that's a pretty bad fortress. I don't think i will.
