Bee problems
« on: July 16, 2014, 04:42:19 pm »

The beekeeping industry seems to be a bit buggy still but I like it. However, I'm having some problems.

I have less than 40 hives and a single beekeeper. Everything went well for a very short while and I got some jelly and honeycombs but now all my hives are full, some have honey bee royal jelly and honey bee wax honeycomb inside and yet my beekeeper is idle and nothing gets done. Is this a (new?) bug or am I doing something wrong?

I have plenty of jugs as well, lots and lots.

you may have jugs, but do you have the appropriate stockpiles and plenty of empty room in those stockpiles?

for me that has always been the trickiest part of the beekeeping industry, proper stockpiling of products.

Do you think you could give a few tips? The stockpiles are confusing. Hives and jugs are both under tools and I don't know where honeycombs go.

Honeycombs are categorized as a tool. If you want to make a honeycomb-only stockpile, enable "tools" under finished goods and "wax" as the only acceptable material.

Also make sure that they're actually empty jugs. Just looking at them, they don't necessarily show up as having things inside them. I don't remember if they still get stored in the same stockpile or not, as well.

silly me, it was the old bug where you need to get the manager to do it, not give the order at the workshop

It's weird though because those first few times, I did it through the workshop and it was fine

I generally exclude tools from storage in finished goods piles and never saw this issue. I think the "can't order pressing" is an issue with honeycombs stuffed into bins. Allowing tools in finished goods piles with bins has absolutely no benefits and massive detriments, not just because of honeycombs. It also screws up access to jugs and the building of nest boxes and hives.

I remember having that bug (if it's a bug?), my Beekeeper stood in the grass without moving at all. I'm not sure if was really a bug or if I was doing something wrong, but that issue didn't only happen to you.

I stopped using advantage of Beekeepers for now, yet I really wish it worked since I really like the idea/concept of using that labor efficiently in-game.

Larix I don't have that. My hives, nest boxes and jugs are all working fine. I just wish they weren't all piled under one thing in stockpiles. If you can select the tallow or fat of every single species in the game, why not also each tool?

Lexyvil yeah I really like the idea of having bees, even with all the work. The bug you're talking about is a different one, where the beekeeper gets stuck trying to get bees from a wild colony. Apparently it's preventable to a degree if you have just one beekeeper.

But I've had my bees working well for a while now, they just take ages to produce anything and since there's a cap of 40 hives, I get about 2 honeycombs per year which sucks.
