I was generating worlds, and after a number of tries with zero to two towers (usually none), I suddenly ended up with a world with around 50 towers by year 600 using the same parameters. Does anyone know why this would happen?

Anyway, this looks like it is going to be an amazing embark.

It's largely random. Necromancer opportunities are created by human & dwarven gods of death, so if you happen to gen a world with more death gods, you'll get more necromancer opportunities, and the towers will become exponentially more common.

Beware, the necromancers will come knocking on your door early and often. My current embark has had to go 3 years without caravans because of necromancers and their zombies coming to siege me.

Necromancers can have more than one apprentice now, so there are potentially more necromancers per secret. Also, if I get it right, some of this towers may be empty (I embarked on the tile next to a tower, and no neighbour was shown in the site selector. Therefore I assume this tower was deserted).
