Lag in managers search
« on: August 15, 2014, 12:16:04 am »

Hello

I played MW some long time ago and absolutely loved it. Then I updates to the newest (by the time) version and my managers menu began to lag. I press 'new job', it opens up the search menu and whenver i try to search for anything, say, 'wooden table', it goes into deep thinking for 2secons after each letter I type in. Typing in the whole 'wooden table' takes painful 10 seconds
At the time i was pretty fed up by DF so i just quit

But now I want to play again =)
And it still lags. I reinstalled windows and it still lags.
Plain DF runs as good as before and I dont remember after which version of MWDF has it started.

Pls halp xd

PS Excuse my bad english, its not my native =)

That's because dwarves have many reactions. The solution for this is to disable some features and gen a new world so there is less of those.

Are you running MDF off of a flash drive or some other non-internal storage device (external harddrive, networked drive, etc.)? In my experience that can cause a major slowdown when you're loading menus like that. Also, you could try increasing the priority of the DF process in the launcher GUI, it may help but I've not noticed any changes. Never ever set it to realtime, though, or horrible things might happen (that is, your computer grinding to a halt).
