Listen, All Ye, and Hear the Story of
FLAMEROCK!
A Tale of Dwarves, Magma, Suspiciously Many Thongs, and Presumably Other Stuff
Flamerock was founded by a bunch of crazies from Asob Sazir, "The Boards of Bridging" at some point. Due to the lack of a bookkeeper or any dwarf with decent memory, the exact date can only be guessed at. The founding probably occurred in 612 or 611. However, true record keeping did not begin until the 18th of Galena, 613, when a bookkeeper was finally assigned. The fortress was still semi-constructed at this point and no true attacks had occurred, although thieves and kidnappers had periodically attacked the fortress.
The central feature of Flamerock is the volcano. The entrance bridge is over the volcano itself, with a drawbridge that can be used to lock invaders out while sharpshooters mow them down. The miners had already struck galena, hematite, gabbro, andesite, rutile, gneiss, schist, slate, obsidian, rhyolite, granite, tetrahederite, marble, dacite, opriment, and diorite, as well as many precious stones.
A magma furnace room is, as of Galena 613, under construction, as is a kitchen, indoor food storage, and a dining room. No cavern has yet been breached. As the trade depot is still under construction, no trade has occurred thus far in Flamerock's history. The construction order of Flamerock probably says a lot about its residents.

Someday, dwarven history students are going to love learning about this.

11th Timber, 613
The dwarves strike the first cavern layer! Smoothing all stone in process because someone high in the chain of command apparently feels like it.

2nd Moonstone 613
The dwarves strike the second cavern layer! A lake impedes progress of the stairway, but the stairway will somehow continue anyway because someone around here is obsessed with straight lines.

20th Felsite 614
Two small goblin raids attacked the fortress, but were defeated with minimal casualties by the militia. Nonetheless, the Gold Cloaks have been put on permanent training duty, and a squad of archers has been formed.

27th Malachite 614
The magma forge is operational! Also, a second defensive bridge has been added to act as a hatch.

9th Galena 614
A mining operation east of the main fortress struck an aquifer! The dwarves will no longer have to worry about hospital patient dehydration during sieges. Provided, of course, that the aquifer is safely tapped and a hospital is built.

26th Felsite 615
Coordinated goblin ambushes killed dozens of dwarves, causing a increase in framerate and a boom in shares of coffins.
TO BE CONTINUED...
Also, the names of the dwarves of Flamerock are open to modification.
