Is sieges functional in 33b ?

Is it? I mean, Toady posted something about tweaking the pathfinding, do this include the goblins?

I read someone saying they're the same as before.

Yeah, they still hang outside. That doesn't mean they aren't dangerous. I lost 26 dwarfs last siege.

I kinda feel bad for the poor gobbies, always milling around ...

I built some tables and chairs and put a barrel of beer at the edge of my map so that they could at least play some cards while they're stuck out there.  Who knows, maybe we can restore race-relations eventually.

Setting them to guzzlers might work.
Someone suggested it in modding.

Killing my dwarves is one thing, but drinking my booze? That's one step over the line!

The beseigers don't run in and throw themselves on your traps like they did in the old version, but they do perform the main purpose of a siege: Blocking you from outside supplies. For as long as the Siege is in effect, Caravans can't get in, so they can cause you to lose a trading opportunity (or possibly more).

Maybe it's intentional then?

Unfortunately, it makes it quite difficult to break the siege if they refuse to actually attack you, since your dwarves will funnel out one by one to them and get massacred by arrows..

Does anyone know if humans and elves still siege normally?

MyLittlePonyBuiltMyHotRod, this is your first warning. I would like to direct you to read our forum's FAQ and posting guidelines before posting again. Specifically we don't use swear words here, and your picture of Stalin riding a Year3 Limited Edition Starflower inside a German concentration camp was both upsetting and historically inaccurate.

I've been unable to get the humans to siege me, but I've not tried terribly hard -  maybe I'll drop a few more caravans into pits and kill off the merchant prince and see if they do. I don't know what triggers sieges starting this version (I've gotten goblin sieges with ~15 dwarves and less then 100k wealth) so it's harder to know for sure if they are coming or not.

I can't get enough dwarves to get the count (I think he is who you needed last version) without lagging to death so I can't test if you still get the tree-chopping limit from the diplomat or not. Anyway, last version they didn't really siege you anyway, they milled around like the goblins do now.

Setting goblins to guzzlers does not really work - they moved to my fort, but slowwwwwly, they only got maybe 20 squares away from the edge or so before it was time to turn around and go home.
