Worldgen Issues
« on: May 18, 2014, 10:02:25 pm »

I've recently tried Masterwork DF, and every single world I generate ends up in the Golden Age well before completion, and sure enough, every single titan and megabeast (as well as most semi-megabeasts) are dead. Is this something intended for Masterwork balance, or should the worldgen settings be changed for better progression?

Are you using the premade settings included in masterwork or trying to gen a world like in vanilla. The masterwork premade settings work out a lot better. Also if you're generating long histories you'll have trouble. The increased races tend to kill each other off and megabeasts quicker than in vanilla.

I always assumed it was a MW issue and never thought about it.  Its extremely rare for any of the recommended worlds to not result in a golden age after about 120 years. Rare to the point of when I was generating worlds last night, only three out of 22 made it to year 150 without a golden age, all three of those were "Age of Hero's"  and only one of them made it to year 200 without a golden age.

I'm using the MW presets (mainly Small and Medium Region). I got fed up with the issues and tried changing the settings to have 3 times as many Titans and Megabeasts, and they still all died long before worldgen was over.

Use the named settings, for example Diverse Biomes - Garden of Gaia. It has max Titans and enough caves to help thrm survive. And the shorter the worldgen, the more survive.
