March of the Sponges
« on: May 11, 2014, 11:32:38 am »

I just reclaimed a region, and the sponge people decided it was a good time to leave their watery home and go around on a stroll. Probably 50 sponge people walked around on land and then died a few seconds later because they couldn't breathe. They killed 3 of my dwarves first though...

EDIT: and now a second wave came out and killed the remainder of my dwarves. Must have been at least 100 of them. Did I run into a sponge breeding ground or something?

Suicide sponge squad? Some things you'll just never be prepared for.

There is a quaint bug where reclaiming can place new wildlife populations on top of existing ones. I discovered this while using the abandon/reclaim bug to acquire steel to make an adventurer's set of armour, when my dwarves were swamped by alligators and hippos (also fighting amongst themselves,  an egyptian ecological apocalypse).
