Limit: 8  Setting: Mid 1930's America, East Coast

To join, make a character sheet similar to the following:

Characters Name: John Johnson
Age: 25
Heath Traits: None, Perfect Health (10HP)
Description:
John is perfectly average, with brown hair and brown eyes, average looks, and average intelligence. He runs at an average speed, lifts an average amount of weight, and is moderately well liked by some people.
Skills: Typing (at almost 39 whole words per minute), Slacking (the avoidance of any and all work), and Looking Unimportant (a constant -5 to notoriety).
Perks: None
Achievements: None
Items: One jail jumpsuit (+5 to notoriety), One pair of old sneakers (+1 to running, -1 to smell)

You can't change any of the traits in italics (Items, Perks, Achievements).

You may pick 3 skills at the start. They provide a +5 modifier to any roll of the D20 that involves that skill. Don't make them too broad. If a skill threatens to make the game unfun, I reserve the right to add negative traits or modifications to balance them out. You'll gain more skills as you go through the game, and improve the ones you already have.

Perks are awarded for certain choices by me. I'll give you 2-3 options, and let you pick.  Perks grant additional points like skills, and allow you to do things that normally would be very difficult. For example, taking the "Private I" perk would give you +3 points to investigating, and allow you to attempt to arrest anyone for little reason. Of course, if you abuse your power, you could get your badge revoked...

Achievements are earned for crowing moments of awesome in game. They provide small bonuses to rolls, or other stuff. Think of them as weak perks I hand out at whim.

Items give specific bonuses, and you'll get them by buying, stealing, and looting.

Playing the game: You will be told your status at the start of each turn. I'll tell you the situation, and then give you some options for how to proceed.
Generally, you'll have the option to make an action I don't deliberately state. This will be less likely to result in perks, and can have huge consequences both good and bad. Based on the action you choose, I'll roll a D20, add any modifiers, and tell you the result.
Turns will last 24 hours, or until all players have responded. If you don't get your action in, I'll choose a bland and safe one for you.

An example of a turn.

John Johnson:
You wake up in a jail cell. Your mouth is dry, and your head is throbbing. New Trait, Hangover. -1 HP, -1 to all concentration rolls, lasts 1 turn.
The cell has steel bars, and looks out on a hall way. The hall appears to lead to the administrative office of the jail house, where you can see a policeman doing his paperwork through the window.

You see the door to the office open, and hear a jingle of keys. The officer moves from cell to cell, handing out some form of oatmeal, and loudly informing prisoners that "yoouse better eat up, cause you guys is on rock duty today". He's a bulky feller, but clumsy. As he reaches your cell, he gets close to the bars and grins. What do you do?

Option 1: Jailbreak! Grab the keys, brain the guard, and get outa there!
Option 2: Eat up! It's obviously going to be a long day, and maybe this will help the hangover?
Option 3: Attempt to chat up the guard, and find out why the hell you're in prison. You honestly have no clue.
Option 4: Other
End Post

John: I'll take number 1! Mama's boy ain't cut out for no physical labor!
End Post

GM: (6/20 -1 =5. Fail) You attempt to grab for the key ring, but your hangover decides to throb at the sudden movement. Your hand, instead of grasping the key, grabs the guards belt buckle. The officer looks down, and then promptly sluggs you in the face for the assault. (Broken Nose, -2 HP, -10 to smell checks) He then yells down the hall: "Hey you guys, we have us a 2440 over here! I could use some backup!"

Do you....... exctra.
