I started out in a small, but very tall room, with a water ladder used to combat the SMP spawning bug that I didn't have to put up with. Yay!
Anyways, I headed further in via a small passageway. I was greeted with the always-amazing site of a sea of lava.
Off to a great start, I see. Wait, creepy cave?
...Well. I have found Satan and his name is Vechs.
Given no other option, into the cave we go! Once we finish the jumping puzzle leading up to it. *Sigh*
A little while into the cave, I find this.
Note the skeleton rounding the corner. He killed me quickly and painfully.
Going back to try and grab my stuff, I end up coming across a spider, who promptly jump kicks me into a nearby lava pool.
So, I get back (After dieing AGAIN on the jumping puzzle) and grab my stuff. Then, I make my way across the minefield, praying I don't set off any pressure plates. I reach the end, and...What's this?
Experimentally, I step on a pressure plate, ready to flee at the slightest hiss. True to his word, the plate does nothing but click.
Screw you, Vechs. Screw you.
I cut my way through the rest of the cave, dieing once after getting mobbed by zombies. I emerged into the open -Er, slightly more open- air, and the tree and fenced in area from earlier. I run towards the fence, spotting a chest, when I get skeletown'd. Again. Not quite dead, I make for the fences, and wall the opening up. Since the fences rest on raised blocks, I'm safe.
There's a sign pointing towards some gravel, saying "Break this". Scared, but without many other options, I complied. Sand rained from the roof, and I thought that I was seconds away from dieing. However, soon after, the sand stopped, and I was shown a bridge:
No more running through the caverns! Of course, there was still the undead problem. I ran through the area, lighting it up with some torches I'd found in a chest earlier. Then, knocking off some bits of fence, I blocked off the bottom of a small hole in the ceiling housing zombie spawners, dropping the things on me. The reason I used fences was twofold: A) They're cheap, not overly useful, and could be found nearby, and B) I knew from prior experience with the start of this map that it'd confer another advantage later on.
Afterwards, I went over to a small mound of gravel, which I knew was a facade for a creeper spawning room. There were some of the green terrorist standing nearby, so I had them do the digging. Then, I entered the spawning room, and sat around for a bit, waiting for the creepers to spawn and finish off the spawners for me. Before long, they complied.
Once this was done, I used the resulting tons of sandstone to build a staircase to the zombie spawning area. The fences, due to the placement of the holes, kept the zombies at bay. I dug around the side, and stealth-mined the spawners, before going back to the front and punching the Nether out of some zombies.
Later on, the staircase could easily connect with the early pathway to our next destination, but for now, that's enough Legendary. More coming soon!
