Give the carabine a final look-over - we were groggy afterall - and then do so. No, really, a single blunder could cost us much of our standing. Better be carefull, especially with something as delicate and potentially hazardous as a weapon.

Spoiler:  Player Statistics (click to show/hide)

You walk back into the workshop and give the assault carbine for Rulus a quick look over and test out its mechanisms. The design seems to be to your specifications and you can't pick out any flaws that are readily apparent. You slot in a single round into the rifle and then aim it at a target against the wall. Putting the rifle against your shoulder you squeeze the trigger and let the round fly.

Ranged: Rifle [11]

The carbine lets off a small blue flame from the barrel as the glowstone embedded in it flashes brightly. The round sails at a high speed and hits the target off center. You never were very good of a shot but at least the weapon works well enough.

You wrap up the rifle in a small bit of parchment and place it in your bag for safekeeping till you arrive at the paladin's headquarters. It's about time you head out there, the note you received was rather cryptic. You exit the apartment through the horridly floral room and then catch a bus to the paladin headquarters. The bus smells faintly of cigarettes and you pass through the dark dreary streets.

You stop off at the wealthy part of the city and then walk towards the monolithic headquarters of the paladins. White marble statues of Astrea surround the area with her visage raising a glowstone above her head. The building itself is made of ancient grey stone and it looks like it was once a chapel of some kind that was re-made into their headquarters. You enter the building and go through the busy lobby where paladins work at desks, drag in suspects, and the sound of training can be heard in distant rooms. You ask the clerk where you can find Rulus and she points you to a pair of stairs which you ascend quickly. After a bit of walking in the crowded labyrinth of the upper halls, you come across head paladin's Rulus's office. You can hear a heated discussion coming from within...

Man, "You've gone too far this time Rulus... if we continue on like this they won't stop. They'll tear us all apart. People are openly revolting and we're barely struggling to keep them down."

Woman, "We continue on with the plan... you have no idea what is at stake."

Man, "At stake? At this rate there won't be a city left to protect!"

Woman, "They'll all thank me when this is over... and so will you. Now get out of my sight."

The door quickly opens and a paladin shoves his way past you and down the hall. He looked rather furious. An old grey haired woman in a black uniform looks up from her desk and then gestures for you to come in, "Ah, Orinius, didn't expect you so soon. Come on in."

Spoiler:  Player Statistics (click to show/hide)

You walk into the rather dusty office where the faint glowing lights of the city filter into the dark room through slits in the blinds. The grey-haired head paladin has her hands folded together and is sitting straight up on her table. Her office is quite neat and orderly with only the faint trail of cigarette smoke flaring up from a dirty ashtray on her desk. Her face is wiry and almost seems with metallic how she holds her expression. You say to her without sitting down, "Yeah finished the carbine early. What did you want to talk about?"

She replies, "Called you here because you've been doing work with us for quite awhile. That means you can be somewhat trusted... even more than some of my men. I've got a problem and it has to be someone outside of my organization for me to get any traction. I can't offer you any sort of money but if you do me this favor I'll make sure you and you're family is taken care of."

She then reaches down and pulls out a small object from one of her desk drawers. It appears to be a brass knuckle with a small tube and a hypodermic needle on the end, "We got this off a few independents a while ago, it's some sort of blood magic weapon. Thing packs about as much punch as a shotgun on your fist. Problem is, we've been seeing more and more of them and we want to know who's supplying. What I'm asking for you to do is figure out the supplier and report back to us. It'll be off the books as well, I can't let the other officers know or the whole thing may be compromised. What do you say? Willing to lend a hand to your city in need?"
