Okay here we are again. The first time we ran this game it worked quite well up to the point where the newly elected government was flooded in ridiculous amounts of information and game mechanics - basically a death through number crunching. In any case, i poured a while over the thing and simplified both military and economic matters to a more digestible state. In any case lets try this again, last time there was a huge amount of interested players and maybe well we could get this going again.

Realpolitik was originally an interactive AAR(AfterActionReport) for the Hearts of Iron 2 Mod Kaiserreich.

The Original

Since many of the modding tools used in there seem to be gone however, i will do this strictly as a forumgame.

So what is this about?

The Kaiserreich Mod put the Game into an alternative Historical Scenario. Among the most important happenings in that Alternative Timeline the German Kaiserreich won World War I.
In Realpolitik players take control of Parties inside the German Reichstag beginning from the year 1936 in a bid to win the elections and form the Government of the German Kaiserreich.
Every two years there is a new election which decides who will decide upon the Fate of Germany and Mitteleuropa.

For Reference here is the Alternative Timeline beginning 1914 up to 1936: Timeline

How am i going to play?

First of all we can have a unlimited amount of players. Each of you can form his own Party (up to a maximum of 10 to save my sanity or whats left of it anyway) with its entirely own Political Program and world views whatever you like. With those you can attract like-minded players to join your party.

When we have at least 3 parties(or as many as i feel necessary) i will post the issues for the 1936 Elections and you can start your Election Campaigns(which will again last as long as i feel necessary). Once done every player and even every !!reader!! can cast two votes for one or two of the parties. With the end of the Elections parties can form Coalitions and in the end the party or coalition with the most Percent wins the Election.

The Winning Party then forms the government. Depending on Interest and Number of Players you have to fill up at least the 3 positions of Chancellor of the Reich, Defense Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs, but if you have enough people in your Coalition/Party you can split those 3 up into more Cabinet positions up to 8 maximum.

So we won, what the hell now?
You will make a public adress to the people in the IC-Thread (at least those who gained Cabinet Positions). Then you will be given a runners down of the current Political,Economical and Social Situation of the Kaiserreich, and have to decide how to improve these. You also have to solve the Issues you are presented with, which in some cases may be solved your complete own way or which may only have several choices.

Depending on your Choices Germanies star will Rise or Fall.

What if my party loses the Elections?

You and the other losing parties will form the Opposition. For one you can comment on the Governments actions. If the Chancellor displeases the public too much this will have penalties upon Germany so be careful, even worse if most of the Opposition is displeased they can demand re-elections!

The Opposition is also able to perform the String-Pulls. Since you guys can do nothing while somebody else is reigning you can suggest Events around the World, which might pester the current government. However you need the support of at least 50% of the other Opposition members.

Important Rules:

- I as host reserve the right to veto any action any player wishes to undertake: To consolidate the stability of the game, to stop interference with the normal functioning of the thread or simply because i feel like it

- Rule 1 of Realpolitik: Democracy is absolute. Even when the nazi's or communists are elected into office, they will still have to answer to the opposition and face elections every two years

- Any member is free to establish or join a political party of his choice. A member can only be member of one party at a time, although he is free to switch allegiance whenever he sees fit.

-Roleplaying is encouraged, but not enforced.

- Every two ingame years an election shall be held, the first election will be held in March 1936. Everyone registered on Bay12 is eligible to vote.

- Parties are allowed to form coalitions. At the end of an election, all votes are tallied and the party or coalition with the largest % of votes wins the election

- The parties that did not win will be sent to opposition, where they can comment on the policy of the leading faction. I will monitor opposition closely, and the leading player has to understand that failing to appease the public will lead to me penalizing Germany ingame (dissent, economic shortages...). It is therefore very important to listen to the public, who can demand re-elections as well

- The winning party or coalition will come into office the ingame update after the elections. They will have to put forward three leading figures for the government: A Chancellor, Army Affairs Minister and Internal Affairs Minister. These three people, backed up by their party members, will be responsible for making decisions ingame. You can split up this Cabinet into up to 8 positions to satisfy more party members.

- Every reader (including players) has two votes in the election. Putting in two votes for a single party is allowed.

- It is strictly forbidden to campaign outside of the Realpolitik thread (spamming up other threads): really now you dont need to annoy other people just to get one or two votes more...

-I retain full right to ban any party that has violated these rules. Spamming parties, parties inciting hate or parties that are found obtrusive for the normal functioning of this thread will be banned from the elections indefinitely.

- If you pm any other parties or players concerning Ingame backroom-dealings, please put me in as CC so that i know what the hell is going on.

- By voting, joining a party or performing any other form of interaction with this Game, you declare that you have read and understood these rules to the letter.

Okay,Okay,I've read the Rules how do i make my Party?

If you want to make a party, you need to update the post where you present it regularly (Mostly just the Members and the Party Program)

1.Your Parties Name
2.Your Parties Emblem/Coat of Arms (Optional)
3.Your Parties rough Political Direction
4.Your General Program (Foreign Policy, Social Policy, Economical Policy)
5.Your Program for the Upcoming Election (as soon as i Make the Opening Post).
6.Parties History, Description, more indepth Political Direction, whateveryoufeelwillattractmoremembers
7.Your Parties current Members with links to their profiles.

Let's start with a nice baseline.
"Scientia est Magis, Auam Aurum--Wissen ist Mehr als Gold"

Do we need to worry about individual candidates?

P.S. Eine Anmerkung: Mein Deutsch ist schlecht, so werde ich wohl auf Google verlassen Übersetzen für jeden deutschen ich benutze. Hilfe für die es eigentlich richtig viel geschätzt wird.
What do we have so far?
1. Check
2. Not present, but planned.
3. More or less check. Maybe a bit rough?
4. The request is pretty vague. Kinda check?
5. ...What do you mean, "program"?
6. Check.
7. Not check, for the same reason it wasn't checked the first time I did this.

So. A few questions.
1. Is it okay to describe the Coat of Arms, or should I actually make it?
2. Is my "political direction" fine or too rough?
3. What are you asking for in 4 and 5?

1. Actually make it or take one from the Internet, if you describe it iw ont make one but search something close to it...i am no artist :P

2. Political Direction: Go with something that everybody who looks at goes:" ah okay so that is the rough direction his party is going". Basically Rough Political Directions like: Social Conservative, Syndicalist, Market Liberal, so that potentials upporters of your party know what youa re going on about. Remember you want to attract readers and players to joins as members of your party or vote for you.

3. Four means your General Party Program. What is it you want to achieve with your rule, fo course you dont know specifics about Germany just yet but a rough outline of your parties general goals. Encourage Immigration or Prevent it, Isolationism vs. Expansionism and Inteverntionism, A Capitalist vs. a Communist Policy. that goes into four.
Five stays empty for now, i will make an IC Thread with current Political Issues which you need to take a stance on. Basically your everyday happenings people expect their chosen Party to say how they are gonna deal with it.

Looks...interesting.

But i think you still misunderstood me on the Political Direction. Look usually all Parties in a Government seek to make the best of their country. However they have certain ways of looking at it. You won't jump from Communism to Capitalism willy-nilly, for one because that would require a huge adjustment of the economy and for one because it is more effective to settle for one economic outlook. So think again what your party should represent, so far your program is quite...empty as well. Remember you don't want to impress me, this information is not for nothing, it is to get players to join your party so it should be more expansive than increase prosperity and improve the economy. You can generally assume that every aprty wants to achieve that. BUT the important part is how you want to achieve it.

Do you want a more even distribution of wealth by raising taxes on the rich and giving support to the poor? Do you want to achieve more prosperity of your people by investing into new branches of industry? What kind of Research do you support? How is your view on the Kaiser? etc.
Basically go as extensive as you think you need to to get interested players into your party.

The rest as said before is fine.
