Every time I read the development log update I'm on the edge of my seat looking for him to say something like he's just finishing up or even a faint hint of it. I always get to the end disappointed, but at least I got space station 13 for now.

It always feels healthy to the brain to build hype for multiple releases in multiple games. That way you can get excited when there's a release more often :D

It'll be released when Goblins next updates.

I THOUGHT I saw you on the forums over there and wondered if that was the same person. I'm a lurker on that forum though.

I think it's the third time I've signed up. I was on the last forum, but I don't remember if I had an account when the forum colours were lime on black (bleh).

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

It seems we've looped all the way around to where we began back in June of 2012, except this time there aren't any development chain reactions waiting to go off to interrupt the work.

This made my hopes go away...

The entire content consists of senseless murder, a pile of faceless naked women and zero regard for human life in general, all in the service of the protagonist's base impulses. It is clearly a cry for help from a neglected, self absorbed and disempowered juvenile badly in need of affectionate guidance. What a sad, sad display.

I still have hopes that the new version will be released this year.

It definitely will not be released today.  That's as far as I'm willing to go.

This means that Toady is not going to go off on a tangent again and that he's currently in the process of testing feature, finalizing feature, testing again, moving on. That's the opposite of making hopes go away...

Which is what he has been doing, plus cleaning up.

The last couple of logs look promising.

April/late march in my opinion. I'm fine with playing DF with most of the current bugs. In fact, if Toady's own personal version right now wasn't as bugged to the circus as it probably is right now, I'd take it immediately.

And yeah, I think DF 2014 is likely. I mean, we had DF 2010 and DF 2012, DF 2014 would set a nice precedent of releases every 2 years.

In the meantime, I've been playing Cataclysm to keep my mind off of DF's current boringness. The fuller at the moment Cataclysm is a nice placeholder while I wait to find out what happens when you start a bar fight.
