My Dwarves release rum from there pore's.... literally, wut?
« on: March 11, 2014, 09:31:03 pm »

;) So where ever my dwarves walk as long as its in snow, a trail of rum is in there wake. Why is this happening or are they just truly the essence of dwarf? Also help me make water in a frozen zone. Ty :)

*their pores

Humans have blood in their veins, dwarves have rum in their veins. I thought this was common knowledge?

One of two things is going on:
1. You messed up your raws.
2. Someone trolled you, and it's very funny.

1b. You have a mod installed, possibly without your knowledge.

To make water in a frozen zone:
1. Go outside
2. Unfasten the front of your trousers
3. Relax your bladder sphincter
4. Bonus points for writing your name.

Either that, or construct a magma duct that runs through (or just beneath) the ice you wish to melt. You must bring the magma to the ice, the other way around will not work.

Well there is one non-modding way which could explain this. If you melt rum barrels, it produces liquid rum contaminant. If a dwarf walks over it, his/hers clothes will be stained with rum and when he goes outside to rain/snowstorm, water/snow cleans him/her and drops rum down. I can't think any other explanitation.

You're sure you're not using a mod? I seem to remember one of them (Masterwork, probably) makes good biomes rain booze. It would cover your dwarves' skins and make it seem like they were sweating alcohol.

I think this also happens if you dump a barrel.

Nope. But if your fortress was visited by a CURIOUSBEAST_GUZZLER (e.g. grizzly bear), they might spill a barrel of rum and create a contaminant pool. It's also possible that the barrel could have been destroyed in some manner (do barrels experience increased wear when left outdoors in freezing climates?).

Yeah, it's part of the contaminant bug. This can happen with any stored item that can't actually be stored as an item without the container, like sand or milk. Too many times has a dumped bag of sand covered the entirety of my outside fortress in black sand. I've never run across booze trails though, though that might be because of what Loci said.

If you abandon and then immediately reclaim a fort that has been LAIR'd by dfhack, your booze stockpiles will be filled with intact, empty barrels in a puddle of booze contaminant.

You know, maybe. It happened to me, once. It evaporated before any dwarf could track it around, though.
