Chief Engineer reporting for duty!
I have that list, by the way.
List: The Galapagos Islands (Small, equatorial, finches, small equatorial finches)
And for projects, can I suggest a ringworld incorporating a supercooled quantum maglev, large scale solar panels, and space elevators?
Archipiélago de Colón isn't too shabby an idea, actually. It's remote, there's plenty of space and resources available to set up a half-decent headquarters, and once we secure control, the growing tourism there will allow us to rake in some extra cash. Plus, who the fuck doesn't like finches?
I'm really digging the ringworld idea as well; something I don't remember ever being suggested in the history of this program.
Consider yourself promoted (Don't ask me to what. Just take pride in the fact that I now hold you in slightly higher esteem than I did ten minutes ago).
We must enslave the UN garrison there! First, they're already trained - saves time. Second, we need to be rid of them anyway to get any work done. Third, having UN troopers run around at our back and call lends us credibility in front of the fools who do not yet know us for an international terrorist organization.
No. That is just...no.
If you're wanting to become in charge of an area, go after a politically unstable area and make it stable, if only a small part. That way, you're getting good publicity (at least until all these experiments you are trying to perform get out), likely a great deal of interest for development, and a greater amount of resources.
Here are some that fit that criteria:
Bangladesh
Venezuela (Has a fair amount of oil reserves, so that )
Argentina
Somalia
Sudan
Kazakhstan
I've always been fond Kazakhstan, myself. Albeit not really for any reason other than my like of saying the name.
Money is for those guys in accounting - by the way, do we have any?
If we pool our resources together, I'm confident we'd have a fair amount to start with. Though let's not go breaking open any piggy banks until we reach some vague consensus on how the money should first be spent.
NEW ASSIGNMENT:Knowing the nature of this program, we will inevitably end up with a shittonne of varied departments and sideprojects. All of which will, at one point or another, require some manner of funding. Taking this into account:
As soon as we settle on a starting location, the very first thing we'll need to do is get our financial priorities straight and figure out
precisely where to put our money in order to give the B12SP the best starting foundation possible. What I need is a shortlist of
only the most essential projects, so that we can determine exactly where and how all initial funding gets distributed.
