Goblins are the ancient Nemesis of Dwarfs and Dwarfs are psychopaths anyway.

I think goblins don't have the [INTELLIGENT] tag in MWDF :)

All corpses in MWDF are butcherable and eatable. This is a necessary drawback of the removal of item corpses. Without this, it would not be possible to acquire souls from corpses.
So either make them butcherable or itemcorpses... Meph decided in favor of butcherable.
(itemcorpses were a pain...)

Why not use two meat materials? Just make the sapient one non-edible...

because races exist that should be able to eat them, like kobolds (bonecarn) and orcs. If I make spaients inedible, they dont have their main food source anymore.

How about a workshop order? "Dwarfs dont butcher humanoids" It would be nice to have the option of not having my dwarfs eat those things.

I couldnt find a way around it. I mean, yeah, I can disable it for dwarves, but than they dont get any souls either. It was the only way I could add this soul system to them.

I guess the best way to get rid of dwarves eating sentient beings is to remove a use for souls, and use something else for the temple. But I would have to delete the biologist as well, its the only way I could get it running.

Modding is hard sometimes. ^^

Can't you make a workshop that uses any corpse and produces soul?

No, there is a hardcoded vanilla DF bug that stops me from doing that. I wrote Toady about it, about half a year ago, he added it to his little list of issues. Corpses dont recognize materials correctly, and the reactions are redded out. And they would use dwarven corpses as well, instead of burying them.

thats why I used itemcorpses before, but that was way worse than the system I use now.

I'm not much for roleplaying my forts, but since I always end up with excessive meat due to invader corpses, I just sell it at one of the merchant workshops.  You can just say that you're selling the sapient meat to the races that do eat sapients, instead of just letting it rot and take up stockpile space.
That being said, is there a fix in the works for the partial skeleton bug?

You could also sacrifice food at the religious buildings.  If you are into RP and don't want the dwarves eating meat just pretend you are sacrificing the blood remains of your enemies to Armok, claiming the kills hoping for a reward.  I will admit that I sometimes am swimming in meat after wiping out a 100+ siege.  I tend to trap whole siege before letting the fight begin so I never see the "killed 20 and the rest fled" pattern.
