In relation to Skyrunner's survey thread

and its subsequent question of how to measure connection speed, I became curious in, well, how we could measure connection speed. Most of us use 'down' speed, as that's the speed most important to us, but Skyrunner wanted some sort of combined measure. There are plenty of options for a combined measure, and I'm sure there are plenty in use, but whatever system we use we still need data!

Would some of you be so kind as to go to speedtest.net and test your speed (5 times would be nice - not too much hassle I don't think) using the default/nearest server. Sure, this doesn't account for the effect of time of day, but, as they say in the scientific world, meh.

It would be nice if you could report all the measurements you get for ping, down and up, and please do leave in any weird stuff, should be interesting to see. You don't need to list your location as I'm considering the 'peer' group to be the Bay12 forums itself.

My provider is AT&T and I'm paying for 18 Mbps. It's just after 5PM where I'm at.

The test results are listed in the order I ran them. The first number is download speed; the second is upload. They were run over the course of like 5 minutes.

15.45, 1.00

Using the highly exact science of extrapolation, I can see that my upload speed is accelerating at about 4.8 Mbps per hour. This time tomorrow I should be able to upload things at lightning speed.
