A riveting read.  What a hot mess that last mission turned out to be.  Nine missions to go - so close and yet so far!

I wanted to say as well, in response to the anecdotes about the veterans, I recently came across a small box of war memorabilia left behind by a WW2 veteran who had served in the air force.  He had a number of items in this box that really stood out to me after following this little LP for a while now.  There were uniform patches of the 8th Air Force, a pilot's hat, medals including the wing pins for the lapels, a flight log(!) of missions, and even some Luftwaffe patches that were clearly cut off of a German uniform with the eagle and swastika emblem.

It makes reading this even more realistic to me - that could have belonged to any one of these guys!

Yeah, the crew will need some time to recover after that one... :(

There's some bad news and some good news. The good news is that the Dame is still up and rolling after two new harrowing missions. That means we've done 18, and have only 7 to go. The bad news is that we'll be getting a new crew member.....

Oh, and by the way, Angel Harris is the luckiest SOB in the history of AARs....

In the meantime, feel free to make new crew members. Crew rotation (to use a euphemism...) is definitely picking up... I don't think we've got any replacements lined up at the moment. And we'll need them... oh boy, we'll need them.

Fresh off the boat! The mighty 8th has some new recruits to draw from.

Josiah Faulkner
Age 27
Origin: Lynchburg, VA
Traits: Smokes like a chimney, speaks in murky Appalachian/Southern drawl, a natural storyteller.  People can't tell if he makes these things up or if he's just survived some outrageous predicaments.

Teddy Barnes
Age 22
Origin: Long Beach, CA
Traits: A natural in aviators with a greased mop of black hair.  Acts cool as an ice cube but shifty under pressure.  A maniac in the heat of the moment.  Otherwise, a hopeless ass-hound and all-around charmer.  A greaser ahead of his time.

Sweet! Thanks for those :D

I think we're up to mission 19, but big changes are afoot! I'm happy to say the current crew is still alive though - somehow!
