FPS Issues
« on: February 04, 2014, 11:08:55 am »

Hi dudes,

First of all nice job Meph, this mod is just awsome !!

You said that with MDF i should have 25% more fps, but actualy i got less Fps thant with vanilla.

With vanilla i can go to 200-300 dwarf with 100 fps.
But with MDF i have 115 dwarfs at 50 fps and all "simple" activated...

Is there anything special in order to speed up the game or alocate more power to it ?

I have an I7 37770K 3.5Ghz Ivy Bridge and 8Go DDR3 and Dwarf is on my ssd.

Sorry for my grammar, i'm not english native.

The FPS boost stems from less items, but I guess that the need for temperature as well as all the possible dfhack scripts do slow it down again. When I started the mod it was certainly faster than vanilla.

I made accelerated DF to keep a mod with the FPS gain, but I guess its not up to date to call MDF faster than vanilla anymore.

Ok, i understand that, but regarding the difference between my Vanilla's fps and MDF's fps, dont you think there is something strange ?

Other question, can i desactivate "smoke effects" without create a new world ? I think this slow down my game uselessly .

smoke effects wont slow down the game, since the items are created and isntantly boil away. Items that stay in stockpiles and the resulting pathfinding, temperature, water/magma movements and AI/Pathfinding slow the game down the most.

Just as a heads-up: some of the gnome scripts may cause slowdown in certain circumstances.  I'm working on streamlining them and/or ensuring that they only activate when relevant but until that gets fixed up you might want to remove them from the init file if you're not actually playing as gnomes.  (Druidism and machina)
