Hehe, congratulations! I remember the killing of my first dragon in adventure mode without being fried alive was a big milestone for me too.
Also, very nice audio loop you have there!

As mentioned in the previous turn, the most exciting field of battle this year will be in the Arstotzkan capitol, with plenty of close-quarter fighting and siege warfare.  Arstotzka, accordingly, spent their design phase developing a high-altitude tactical bomber.

I was totally disappointed by my first (and only) dragon kill. I guess it was a young one or something. I walked up to it, was going to fight it carefully(try to cripple it, throw things at it, use all the tricks) but when i autoattacked it, i chopped its head off and the fight was over.

Next is a Bronze colossus in terms of difficulty. Or some Titan made of metal, but titans are too randomized to get those often.

I know that feel.  :(

What the fuck. Is some random undorfed recruit now our new Darkwing? Hell, even Darkwing just managed to kill two clowns before he went down. It's beyond me that a frigging recruit in the Official Voidspawn Feeding Detachment managed a triple kill on Forgotten Armokhumping Beasts.

Any titan or beast made out of inorganic material can be difficult to kill. Make sure that, if you run into a titan, take a look at it and see what its made of- then plan accordingly.

There is currently a minor problem in that the veteran demons fighting in the corpse factory have failed to die in the 2 year battle and have become legendary unkillable gods of war. I may have misjudged this possible outcome.

If I remember correctly, I killed my first dragon with a party of 16 soldiers. We were ambushed by goblin bandits as we left to go report it. I died.

Dragons are easy to kill as long as you have a shield to stop his breath and something to bash his head in/behead him. Dragons are glass cannons.

I fought a dragon once. I was a decently trained peasant character, slayer of many horseshoe crabs and bystander hero to the defeat of a vampire in a village, which allowed me to recruit a small force of peasants. We went to the dragon's lair, and after blocking the dragonfire, I thought, maybe this will end well. I smacked the dragon with my weapon for no damage, and the dragon BIT MY LEG OFF.

I then crawled to a small niche in the wall, prone (and weeping if it were possible in game.) My !!peasants!! killed the dragon with their tiny, tiny knives but then all of them burned to death.

Eventually I made my way back to town and after a few more adventures went to slay a second dragon with a new crew of peasants. I had been training crutch walking because otherwise I would have been forced to go prone. After losing his leg, that adventurer was much more prudent and allowed the peasants to go first instead of him. The peasants did this against the dragon, and while he was busy biting THEIR legs off for once, my adventurer walked up and bonked him on the head with his crutch, pushing the skull through the brain for poetic justice.

interesting and a very entertaining read. I suppose, the only solution to this "glass dragon" problem is to open up hell and hope for an epic tale and perhaps a new loop. ^_^

300 human/elf/dwarf/goblin/kobold bodies 20 random animal/fish/bird bodies and 3 dragon bodies all in one backpack. fun stuff.

Hell is incredibly irritating. Everything i've fought down there with my vampire necromancer human is either stupidly easy for me to kill(some weak thingie that breaths frozen extract, for example) or will web you and kill you in 1 move. One of the few really, really tough fights i  have had have been deities. They wear clothes that will block adamantine weapon hits- i finally killed one by cutting off hands and feet till it bled to death.
The web spitters, you need a massive group of companions or a high throwing/archery skill to beat.

According to some philosophers, deities are the most difficult enemy in the game; especially if they are powerful demons. Their clothes are thick enough to stop basically anything. I once fought a deity with a team of ~10 weaponmasters, and me being a swordsmaster with an ☼adamantine long sword☼. It was a close-run thing, and I somehow won after decapitating the thing. At one point I became it with DFhack and found that it had Legendary in every fighting stat, so yeah.

Those are not deities: they're unique demons who escaped the underworld and gained status among the surface-dwellers, either by taking over goblin civilisations through force or by _posing_ as deities among humans.

The clothes make them close to immune to edged attacks, but bones can be broken by projectiles and blunt attacks, so that at least they're on the ground and less capable of smacking you around. Getting the kill still is hard and tiring work. I once killed one of these demons by chopping at its fingers until it died from blood loss, and the military of a fort brought one to the ground with crossbows and blunt attacks and then after a few thousand attacks, an axe-chop finally took the head off.

Sorry, the key word was powerful, not demons. I know that they are all demons.
