Necromancer Fortress?
« on: January 17, 2014, 04:53:50 pm »

Is it possible to get a fortress full of necromancer dwarves? Possibly by moving a necromancy slab to an abandoned fortress site in adventure mode and then reclaiming the fortress?

Not in vanilla, dwarves just won't read it. The only necromancers you can get are occasional historical figures and retired adventures. You can try to create a lot of adventurers teach them necromancy, retire them in your dwarven capital and hope some of them will migrate. Also, if you just want a fortress with friendly zombies, you can find a place with zombifying mist and acquire some vampire blood (you can do that with an adventurer and then just leave the barrel where you plan to make the fortress). Then you vampirify all you starting dwarves and important migrants ASAP, a others gets equipped with some swords and stationed under the mist. If I'm not mistaken, husks will not attack vampires, so you'll be safe. And thirdly, you can try modding. There is a lot of mods that allow your dwarves to learn all sorts of magic spells.
