Tips regarding job distribution
« on: January 18, 2014, 03:08:21 am »

Hello Im at my second Fortress( due to lost save) and right now I have 47 shorties and Im thinking about tidying up their allowed labour settings to minimalise idleness. I had an idea with Guild like custom profession [like : Crafters guild  whith bone, wood, crafters masons potters tailors etc. Farmers with planters/herbalists animal caretakers trainers milkers etc Diggers-where I'll train strenght of future soldiers so there be a rotation of vacancies. Builders with stone carvers and architects  Metallurgy -blacksimiths armorers weaponsmiths bowyers. Workers -all those pump press and between production  workers. Haulers-Peasants
and the main job set as nickname...What do you think about it ?
Any Tips regarding  labour distribution are welcome.

Ps Sorry If you find it hard to understand. My english became a bit rusty

you can if you like, but I usually just aply whatever I want to whoever has the fewest jobs active. With some exceptions, since sometimes I want things done right away. When I order mechanisms or place traps I usually need them ASAP, so mechanics rarely have jobs that would take a lot of their time (like mason, miner or farmer). Otherwise it's based on what pre-existing skills they had and then on whatever I need. When I need more masons, they don't need pre-existing skill in a related job.
