Falcon Plays: RimWorld

Intro

Hey, guys! Wanted to share my adventures as a pseudo dictator like overlord in RimWorld. Been having plenty of fun doing this series and for the most part felt the reception to it has been amicable considering I'm such a lowly peon with a small brain and colony titles with plenty of micro managing sometimes (see: All the time) go over my head! Regardless, I'm 13 videos in as of this post with a new video due out shortly. My goal is, and has been, to treat the game with permadeath rules so I don't reload saves or anything. Currently on Cassandra Classic but if/when this colony falls I'm looking to try Randy Random for that added random factor (no kidding!) However, I'm also looking to personalize the colony a bit as it grows (and future ones) so if you would like to throw your names in the bag for the next colony default settlers of 3, then by all means go ahead. Tips, tricks, and criticism is always welcomed in regards to my gameplay, so feel free to let loose!

Game Info

In its fiction, RimWorld draws a lot from Firefly. This is where it gets its subtle Western vibe - frontier living, an arid environment, sparse law enforcement, and the constant threat of outlaws. We're also heavily inspired by science fiction novels like Dune and Alastair Reynolds' Revelation Space series (which both Alistair Lindsay and I are huge fans of). The Warhammer 40,000 universe also forms part of our inspiration. In terms of game design, the game draws most from the 800-pound gorilla of the simulation genre, Dwarf Fortress. We also take ideas from indie hits like FTL (our semi-random event format) and Prison Architect (its way of presenting a complex world in a comprehensible, interactive way). And, there are many others.

Latest episode has us FINALLY moving to greener (figuratively) pastures in our own Gotham City in Rimworld. Feel free to drop any tips, tricks, or criticism, fellow dwarves! My puny mind is incapable of multi-tasking at times (see: all the time)

Hey guys! Episode 20 is now up after a huge Raider invasion in the last episode. We pick up the pieces and continue to expand our civilization (and burn the remains in the process!)

Good Sunday(Monday?) to all you guys! Latest crusade in our Gotham City in Rimworld has us acquiring a new colonist by force (since that's the kind of thing I'm into) by the name of Curry. Good thing we're not cannibals. All this and more in the latest episode!

RimWorld Episode 25 - Spicy Curry, please!

Apparently my way of ringing in the new year entails one too many blast charges and burnng corpses. So what's for breakfast?
