Crazy Urist's Bargain Bonanza is getting annoying...
« on: December 23, 2013, 05:59:33 am »

No matter who I assign as broker (usually someone with some appraisal skill) they always end up marking the dumbest crap for trade. I don't want all my dwarves sent to bring up dozens of shale rocks/blocks for trade, I just want my good stuff present and everyone else still working. If I tell them to send it back, they just remark it and send for it again >:(....also it never seems like I can trade with the caravan unless I allow everyone to trade. The broker has access, and the trader is requested but it still won't let me trade unless I allow everyone to do so....

NM, figured out it was just a crappy mod. Going to turn it off now.

Edit: Aye I know its not crappy...it was just starting to frustrate me really badly. I highly value all the work that people put into the many useful mods that are out there to make this game that much better.

If you mean "autotrade", it's not a crappy mod, it's an amazing mod which allows you to set stockpiles to be sent directly to depot. You just need to know what are you doing, as with anything else.

I made the accidental discovery that autotrade can mark refuse stockpile items for hauling. It's a hell of a way to dispose of unbutcherable corpses, though vermin remains are untradeable.

Generally, I find the best way of getting the broker to the depot is to get them headed there before any hauling starts. If you don't have them on Trade at Depot before the item hauling jobs come in, they'll become distracted by all the hauling jobs even if they're burrowed in the depot area.

I just allow anyone to trade.

fair enough. I don't really know how to use the mod. It seems like its more trouble than its worth though, first it automatically allocates a good number of your dwarves which could be doing something productive to carrying crap to market, second it sells EVERYTHING that isn't nailed down. I realize it saves you time in marking stuff to trade, but the time that is saved there is tied up in bringing back all the stuff you intended for use elsewhere....then again perhaps if you marked a separate stockpile for stuff you ONLY intend to sell then I guess it could be useful.

you probably can limit it somehow as to what gets brought to the depot, you just need to know how (I don't)

That's how the mod is intended to be used, yes.
