Sometimes yes. Whats often easier though is to find a small village, search the buildings and there will often be bags of berries around. The regular old wool/leather bags can be used to carry water just like a waterskin. ( I>letter of the bag>fill with water. While your standing over a stream or river) And they can actually carry more IIRC. but you might want to dump out a bit. 20 water can get kinda heavy for newer adventurers

as long as it's not too cold outside, you can also drink blood from any animal you kill, whatever got on your armor, body and clothing, with no side-effects unless it's vampire blood. Or poisonous blood. Dipping into a pool will likewise create a coating of water that you carry with you for a while, though it evaporates fast in the warmer regions. For some reason, stuff that disgust your adventurer when drinking from a pool don't matter much when it's on his hands.
