I haven't played DF in about 4-5 months and I want to start again but can't get into it like I used to. Help?

My advice?

Wait just a teeny bit longer.

Toady originally gave a date of mid november for a new release with radical new enhancements and features, but went overbudget. If his new guestimations in the dev log are accurate, i'd estimate sometime in february or march should have a huge laundry list of amazing new toys to try out.

If you've already waited 4 or 5 months, 2 or 3 more shouldn't hurt too much, just don't lose the sense of anticipation; it may well come before then!

If you want to play the current version to knock the rust off, go ahead and do so. I'd suggest a !!FUN!! Fortress, INTENDED to fail spectacularly, since dedicating lots of effort doesn't make sense with the approaching release. (It's NEVER worth it to import an old world. Every time toady has given a major release, the world's physical features at world gen are just that much richer, and keeping an old world just robs from the experience.)
