I've played 23a with Adventurer Mode before, and while I agree that sites certainly have immense room for development, I do believe that it was extreme to remove them entirely. Simply having them there adds more flavor to the game, in my opinion.

Probably because you're sleeping on a site. I remember the goblin towers usually being empty, though if you're lucky you can find a demon.

True, but doesn't add all that much if they are empty. Removing them also breaks the quests that you get which send you to a mountainhome or something.

It could be that it broke the quests anyway.

It's taking FOREVER for it to load! Don't worry I'm doing still doing research though. I do have to agree on taking them out entirely though. I know toady is a busy person, but he could have fixed the sites up along the updates.

You can mod the game so that everything builds towns the same way as humans.

They probably broke even worse than the rest of the game with 0.31.01.

Really, the only fun you ever got out of these, were quests to kill demon rulers, and to kill evil kings, and bandits. Sometimes, megabeasts would reside in dwarven retreats.

Editing the raws fixes some of this and will tide you over until Toady finishes. Civs have a list of site types and certain tags that make them build certain things.

[DEFAULT_SITE_TYPE:CAVE]

Will produce a civilization with its capital as a kobold hole-in-the-ground. Unexciting, but better than nothing.

[BUILDS_OUTDOOR_FORTIFICATIONS]

Results in fortress outposts where you can get quests and gear, or murder the lawkeepers.

[BUILDS_OUTDOOR_TOMBS]

Goblin mummies.

You're welcome.

Oh, and never give elves human-style cities. I haven't tried tweaking it so that dwarves sometimes build surface cities, but elves build vast empty cities where most of the merchants have nothing to sell due to elf taboos and culture.

EDIT2: Oh god, the bat has got a title now.

Dwarves live in mountains, which cities don't like at all.

Update: Since it was to dark to see anything I took rest. It seems sleeping takes an enormous time to load or the fact I'm sleeping in a site.
Reasting in the old versons basicy just left the game running, thay why it takes for ever.

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.
